A joint Arts Council/ESRI study based on the Growing Up in Ireland studies, has found that children's involvement in the arts has a positive effect on their ability to copy with school and school work. "The study, which is being published by the Arts Council today, has identified that children aged 9 who frequently read and attend classes in music, dance or drama have an improved 'academic self-image'...by the age of 13.
