New Library Online Resources now live



As was mentioned in our post of 25th of Feb, Library Services recently announced a significant expansion to our online resources collection for 2019 through the IReL consortium.

The following databases/journal collections are now available both on and off-campus via the Databases A-Z

American Society for Microbiology
The American Society for Microbiology is the oldest and largest single life science membership organization in the world. Membership has grown from 59 scientists in 1899 to more than 43,000 members today, with more than one third located outside the United States. The members represent 26 disciplines of microbiological specialization plus a division for microbiology educators. There are 15 titles in the package.

British Medical Journal Collection
The British Medical Association publishes a wide range of medical journals (including the BMJ) covering a broad selection of medical areas. There are almost 30 titles in the package.

Cambridge Journals Online
Cambridge Journals Online (CJO) is the e-publishing service for over 380 journals published by Cambridge University Press in the areas of computer science, genetics, humanities, law, mathematics, medicine, philosophy, physics, politics, psychology, science, technology.

JSTOR
JSTOR provides a comprehensive digital archive of important scholarly journals. Institutions gain access to the archive and support its preservation by participating in collections. JSTOR offers multidisciplinary and discipline-specific collections that include complete runs of journals as well as select monographs, transactions, and conference proceedings. IReL currently has access to the following two collections: JSTOR Arts and Sciences I to VII, and JSTOR Life Sciences Collection. Subject coverage includes: architecture, arts, business, economics, film, history of art, life sciences, science, social science.

New England Journal of Medicine
The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) is a weekly general medical journal that publishes new medical research findings, review articles, and editorial opinion on a wide variety of topics of importance to biomedical science and clinical practice.

ASME Digital Collections Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is the premier professional membership organization for more than 127,000 mechanical engineers and associated members worldwide. ASME also conducts one of the world’s largest technical publishing operations in the world, offering thousands of titles including some of the profession’s most prestigious journals, conference proceedings, and ASME Press books. The ASME Digital Collection package includes almost 30 full‐text journal titles.

GeoRef

The GeoRef database, established by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) in 1966, provides access to the geoscience literature of the world. GeoRef is the most comprehensive AGI database in the geosciences and continues to grow by more than 80,000 references a year. The database contains over 3.4 million references to geoscience journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports and theses.

GeoScienceWorld
GeoScienceWorld (GSW) is a nonprofit collaborative and comprehensive Internet resource for research and communications in the earth sciences, which is built on a core database of peer‐reviewed journals and is integrated with the GeoRef abstract and index service. The organization gives global researchers a single point of access to 45 full‐text scholarly journals plus specialized searching capabilities and links to millions of relevant resources hosted elsewhere on the Web.

Women Writers Project

The Brown University Women Writers Project is a long‐term research project devoted to early modern women’s writing and electronic text encoding. They support research on women’s writing, text encoding, and the role of electronic texts in teaching and scholarship. WRO is a full collection of Women Writers Project texts currently available online, covering a period from 1400 to 1850. This collection includes the texts, all of which can be browsed, searched, and analysed using tools which provide access to the full SGML encoding.
